Meghan B Hopper

Union President

As President of MUGSU, YOUR student organisation, my ultimate job is to make sure that you get the most out of your student experience whilst here at Monash Gippsland. Whether I'm dancing it up at a Uni night, turning a sausage at a free barbeque, giving you information (and free stuff!) at O Week or representing you to some of the highest governance bodies of Monash University, I'm here to improve your student life.

I sit on a bunch of committees, including the Student Experience Network, the Monash Postgraduate Association Executive, and the 2011 Academic Board. I also make a point of working closely with the off campus student population (as a fourth-year off campus student myself!) and the International Student Association. Make sure you drop by and see me next time you're in the MUGSU student lounge.

Tim Bell

Education Vice President

Hi, I'm Timothy Bell. As the Education Vice-President of MUGSU it's my job to represent the students of Monash Gippsland and their interests.

I've been at Monash Gippsland for over two years and understand what it's like to be a student and how student life can be improved.

Ha Vu (Kelly)

Off Campus Vice President

Hi, I'm Ha Vu (Kelly for short) and I'm the Off Campus Vice President. The Off Campus Students Association (OCSA) is a subcommittee of the Monash University Gippsland Student Union (MUGSU). Its primary charge is to advocate and represent the interests of Off Campus students to both the University and the Student body. It does so by engaging in various forums and with University decision makers.

The committee also seeks to arrange events and programs that benefit Off Campus students. The committee always welcomes feedback so that the issues and problems that effect students can be addressed.

Ryan Pollock

Media Director

Hi all... My name is Ryan Pollock and I'm the MUGSU Media Director. The Media Collective creates and publishes most of the Union Publications, such as RAMBLINGS!

There are endless opportunities for student input, current issues, feature stories, band interviews, film and music reviews, sport stories, comics, art and anything else you can think of.

Kobi Howe

Womyn's Director

Hello, I'm Kobi Howe, I am the Womyns director here at MUGSU. I always get asked why womyns is spelt how it is, the original reason is because there is no men in women but i do hope they change it soon. As a womyns director my role is to try help female students with their education, health and wellbeing while studying at Monash.

We organise events tailored to women's interests from fun belly dancing classes to casual catch up's. If you have any ideas i can take on board for events or charities come see me, my office is near the sport and rec office.

Samantha Fryer

Activities Director

Hi, my name is Sam (see Sams Fryup on Facebook), and i'm the Activities Director for the Student Union and a im also a third nursing student.

My job is to promote Uni nights, but also to suggest nights that should be organised. I love music and outdoors. And you'll be able to find me wednesday nights in the student lounge.

Tameka Young

Welfare Director

Hi, I'm Tameka Young and I'm the MUGSU Welfare Director. I organise the welfare collective which runs campaigns to unsure equity and access to university facilities and services. We also come together to investigate avenues to campaign issues inside and outside of the university. These may include youth affairs, housing, income and employment.

Mark Nijenhuis

Secretary / Treasurer

Hi! My name is Mark Nijenhuis. I am the Secretary/Treasurer here at mugsu. As Secretary/Treasurer, I have the responsibility of coordinating, organising and being custodian of Student Union records and ensuring those records are properly maintained.

In conjunction with the Finance Officer, I have the broad responsibility of custodian of the Student Union budget. I am also in my 4th year studying Civil and Environmental engineering here at Monash.

Sharna Fitzpatrick

Sport & Rec Director

Heya! I'm Sharna Fitzpatrick and I am the Sport and Recreation Director. I play part in organising the sport here on the Gippsland Campus. We offer both social and competitive sports, and inter campus competition.

 So, if you have any queries about the sporting activities that we run here on the campus or have any ideas that you wanna chat about come and see me in the sport and rec office!! :D

Environment Director

Hi, I’m John Preston and my role at MUGSU is the The Environment Director. The environment Collective is open to all students concerned or wanting to know more about making a difference towards a healthier life and planet.

Kamrul Islam

GAPS President

Hi, I'm Kamrul Islam and I am the GAPS Director. GAPS is a forum open to all Gippsland enrolled postgraduate and honours students.  The aim of GAPS is to provide academic and professional support to all postgraduate students during their studies.  Throughout the year, GAPS organises a range of activities, including postgraduate seminars, as well as various recreational activities, including social gatherings and trips.

Getting involved with GAPS provides you with a great opportunity to meet and network with both local and international postgraduates, allowing you to share your study, research and professional experiences.

Pamela Ng

ISA President

Hi Everyone, my name is Pamela and I’m from Malaysia. I am currently the president of the International Student Association and the president of the badminton club. The I.S.A aims to make your university experience a more exciting and memorable one which is why we often organize outings such as trips to the city, trips to Great ocean road as well as ski trips to mount Baw baw. We also have free barbeques and events such as our annual culture night as well as mid autumn festival. Coming from a multiracial country, I’m able to interact with people from different backgrounds which is loads of fun for me because I love learning about other cultures.

I know that starting your new life as a university student can be a challenging transition but I’m fully committed in helping you to settle down. Feel free to talk to me about any problems that you may be facing and I’ll do my best to help you out or refer you to someone who can. Amy Blundell

SRA President

Hi I'm Amy Blundell and I am the president of the Student Residences Association (SRA) at MUGSU. My role is to enhance the opportunities of extra curricular activities for residential students and to allow the students the opportunity to have their opinions heard relating to residency on campus.

I aim to organise a few fun activities this semester ranging from paintballing to movie nights, but I am open to suggestions!
